At Country Club Dental Centre in Nanaimo, our dentists perform a variety of oral surgery procedures to help treat dental issues and protect your oral health.
What is Oral Surgery?
Injuries, diseases and defects of the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, jaws and teeth must be effectively and efficiently diagnosed, then treated. This is classified as oral surgery.
While we always opt for the least invasive treatment possible to resolve any given dental issue, in some circumstances less invasive treatment options are simply not sufficient and oral surgery is needed.
Tooth Extractions
While we always prefer to save a natural tooth, in some circumstances this will prove impossible. If a tooth is too severely damaged as a result of injury, gum disease or decay, your dentist may need to remove it. Your dentist can offer tooth replacement options such as dental crowns, bridges or dentures. Other options may be dental implants and bone grafting.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
This final set of teeth erupts in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. If your wisdom teeth cause pain or oral hygiene issues because they have grown in at an angle, only partially emerge or are impacted, your dentist may recommend removing them to help preserve your oral health.
Implant Restoration
Dental implants are small titanium screws that function like natural tooth roots. Our dentists restore existing dental implants with crowns or bridges. Implant restorations look and function like normal teeth and have many advantages such as improved speech and restored facial features and since they are permanently fixed there are no diet limitations.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy procedure eliminates a frenum, a small piece of tissue that connects your cheeks, tongue, or lips to your gum area. Our dentists perform frenectomies for babies, children, and adults when the frenum is restricting function, commonly referred to as tongue-tied, lip-tied, or cheek-tied. Frenectomies require no anesthesia and are fast-healing.
